Pure aesthetics and well-being

Basica®

A new web design that makes you feel good

An all-round new web presence for Basica®

Restoring the body’s acid-base balance, focusing on an alkaline diet or establishing inner balance: Basica® has been helping health-conscious people live in balance for almost a century.

2021 was a year of great change for Basica® – the brand received a completely new corporate branding: from offline measures to product packaging and the company’s online presence.

To increase the well-being of users already while browsing the Basica® website, the company switched sides for once. The supporting role was assigned to elements and punkt & komma. And the agency duo was more than happy to take on the challenge of breathing new life into Basica®’s online presence.

Challenges and objectives of the website relaunch

The project was challenging primarily because of the tight schedule. The new corporate positioning was communicated at the beginning of the year – hence the new website had to be launched in a timely manner as well, featuring an optimized look and feel.

During the kick-off phase, it quickly became clear that adjustments to the existing website would not be sufficient to present the high-quality products and valuable content in a digitally appropriate manner. Instead, a completely new online presence was needed – one where the magazine as well as the recipe and download area would find their place as well.

Other project goals:
  • a uniform design for all communication channels

  • an increase in the overall reach of the website via the newly developed magazine section

  • consolidation of all websites of the Protina umbrella brand (Basica® and Diasporal®) into one central Pimcore platform

Business before visual pleasure

Prior to 2021, most of the work was done in the background. After the design was approved, development took place from October to December – virtually at the speed of light.

For content creation, the company relied on the content experts at punkt & komma, who continue to provide articles for the online magazine. Once the basic framework of the website was in place, the individual pages had to be filled with text. Content management and entry was also placed in the experienced hands of punkt & komma.

New year, new website

The output shows how diligently and successfully everyone involved in the project worked and collaborated: More than 100 objects with valuable information were created until the day of the go-live.

Finally, at the beginning of the year, the aesthetic and at the same time functional web design appeared on the screens for the first time. Since then, both German- and English-speaking users have been using the website as a research resource to increase their well-being.

Online balance restored: highlights of the new website

The rebranding had a positive impact on the overall user experience. Both on desktop and on mobile, the clean design encourages users to extensively engage with the content:

  • In the recipe section, users can find a variety of appetizing dishes – with information such as preparation time – at first glance.

  • The Basica® magazine is full of informative articles on the topics of health, alkaline nutrition, news and me-time. Being able to filter by category as well as the specified reading time increases convenience.

Establishing balance with inspiring & informative content

Especially the magazine section was well received by users and contributed to the increase in website traffic. In addition, the number of clicks on the option to order Basica® products from pharmacies has increased significantly as well.

Basica® & elements: the collaboration continues

Soon, the Swiss version will also be updated and shine in a new design. The regular supply of inspirational magazine articles by punkt & komma continues successfully. In addition, the optimization of the magnesium calculator and a newsletter integration are on the joint agenda.
