All eyes on the new website

The challenge

Vitznau, located at beautiful Lake Lucerne in Switzerland, boasts a wide variety of leisure activities for locals and visitors. And these offers shall no longer remain hidden from the online world! Until recently, only the municipality of Vitznau had a website, but it did not do justice to the beauty and diversity of this charming place.

One of the challenges was to specify the technical goals and non-goals and to define which features were essential for the village’s online presence. Another one was the tight deadline for the planned go-live of the website, which left the team with little time for the implementation.

The goal was clear from the beginning: This picturesque place deserved a website that reflected its unique charm! The aim was to increase awareness of the region and consequently generate more bookings for overnight stays.

The implementation of the website required the expertise and skills of the Development, Design, Frontend, Web Performance Optimization and Content teams. From the design and development to the creation of the navigation concept, copywriting and content management, everything was done in-house at elements.

And the result is impressive: After only a short four months, elegant design now meets inspirational content about the popular holiday destination.

One of the website’s highlights is its interactive map

With just a few clicks, users can find accommodation options, restaurants, important infrastructure, activities and events. On 19 May 2021, the “button was pressed” and the website went live.

Since then, users have been able to get a first digital impression of the picturesque Swiss village at Lake Lucerne.

First successes were not long in coming. The new website was very well received and has gained acclaim among the surrounding tourism regions.

A look into the future

The successful collaboration between Vitznau and elements continues: Further developments are already being planned. Another step towards reaching an international target group is to translate the website into other languages. Providing content in English will further expand the target audience.
